Lindsay Lohan Hospitalized With Rare Disease While In London

Lindsay Lohan has landed in a London hospital with a rare and incurable disease, according to TMZ. She fell so ill that she could no longer walk.

Lohan mostly likely contracted the virus known as Chikungunya while traveling in Bora Bora over the holidays. The disease is transmitted through mosquito bites and causes fever, joint pain and fatigue.

The 28-year-old actress started complaining of the illness shortly before New Years, according to TMZ. Following her island vacation, she traveled to Los Angeles to shoot an Esurance commercial (possibly for the Super Bowl) and then headed back to England.

Lohan checked into King Edward VII Hospital, which also cares for the Queen Elizabeth II. The doctors are keeping her under treatment for a high fever and joint pain that is "unbearable," according to TMZ. The joint pain could last months.

She did tweet on Wednesday afternoon around noon (EST) the she was assisting in the website design for a London youth volunteer program. Her previous tweet came on Jan. 16 in Los Angeles while meeting with her director for an upcoming movie.
