A New York teenager was killed in a sledding accident on Long Island during Monday night's blizzard, WABC-TV reported.
Police in Huntington, in Long Island's Suffolk County, said 17-year-old Sean Urda and his two friends were taking turns snow tubing down Chester Court.
Urda was taking his turn when he lost control and crashed into a light pole, according to WABC-TV.
He was pronounced dead upon arrival at Huntington Hospital.
While Winter Storm Juno spared much of New York, a blizzard warning will remain in effect for Long Island's Nassau and Suffolk Counties until Tuesday night, the station reported. Hardest-hit areas include the town of Islip which saw over 14 inches of snow while Upton saw 21 inches.
Service on the Long Island Railroad also remains suspended as of Tuesday morning, with trains expected to begin running on a weekend schedule later in the day.
The teen's death comes at a time more U.S. cities are passing measures to restrict or fully ban sledding over concerns for children's safety and to protect against lawsuits.
