'X-Men: Apocalypse': Younger Versions of Storm, Cyclops and Jean Grey Cast

According to an article at Comic Book Resources, X-director Bryan Singer has found his new mutants...and no, I don't mean the ones from the early 80s, X-Men spinoff comic. Singer announced via Twitter that "X-Men: Apocalypse" has added Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, and Tye Sheridan as Cyclops.

Here's Singer's announcement tweet from earlier this evening:

Turner is well-known for her role as Sansa Stark on HBO's 'Game of Thrones." Shipp recently starred as the late Aaliyah in the contentious TV movie, "Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B," and can next be seen playing Kim in the NWA biopic "Straight Outta Compton." Sheridan began his acting career in 2011 as Steve in "The Tree of Life," followed by a memorable role as Ellis is "Mud" a year later.

All three characters will be younger versions of those seen in the original "X-Men" trilogy and last summer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, and James Marsden originally played those three roles.

The trio of actors joins a cast that includes James McAvoy (Professor Charles Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Mangeto), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), and Evan Peters (Quicksilver), as well as newcomer Oscar Isaac as the big bad Apocalypse. There are also rumors that Channing Tatum will make his debut as Gambit in the film before getting his own spin-off, which was officially announced earlier this month.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" will hit the big screens on May 27, 2016. Get your popcorn ready, true believers...
