Prince Jackson, the oldest of the late Michael Jackson's three children, will testify today in the multi-million dollar wrongful death suit filed by his grandmother Katherine Jackson against AEG Live, CBS Los Angeles reports. AEG is potentially liable for Michael's death in 2009 because it allegedlyhired, retained and supervised Dr. Conrad Murray, the star's personal physician often blamed for the death of the King of Pop.
Prince was only 12 when his father died from an overdose of surgical anesthetic propofol while rehearsing for a series of comeback "This Is It" concerts in London. In 2011, Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for giving Michael the dose that killed him, and is currently serving a four-year sentence at the Men's Central Jail.
Today's testimony will be the first time the court will hear from Michael's children, as Prince and Paris have already filmed depositions for the jury to watch. It is also expected that TJ Jackson, co-guardian of Michael's three children, will be called on to testify. AEG live executives, Michael's personal chef and the choreographer for his "This Is It" tour are among those who have already testified so far.
Prince will follow expert witness Gordon Matheson, a physician who claims that Murray had a conflict of interest while caring for Jackson because of his heavy personal debts and high monthly salary from AEG, according to the Hollywood Gossip.
AEG has said that it did not hire Murray nor supervise the doctor, and argued that Michael Jackson had prescription drug and addiction problems years before entering the company.
In the days leading up to Jackson's death, the star was sweating profusely and seemingly out of it, making statements like, "God keeps talking to me." During one rehearsal in June, Michael was reportedly looking very thin and was not speaking normally.
The trial, which began in April, is currently in its ninth week.
