'Killing Kennedy' Movie Cast: Michelle Trachtenberg Plays Lee Harvey Oswald's Wife (PHOTO)

Michelle Trachtenberg ditched her Regina-style from "Gossip Girl," and took on a Retro look for her portrayal of Lee Harvey Oswald's wife.

The actress plays Mariana Oswald, the wife of President John F. Kennedy's assassin, in the TV film "Killing Kennedy." The National Geographic movie follows JFK's final years, based on the best-selling book by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard.

In the image released, Trachtenberg is shown cradling a baby, which may be the couple's first child June Oswald. Trachtenberg is wearing a green sweater and orange-and-red striped dress. Her hair is lighter and softly curled, in honor of 1960s style.

Trachtenberg, 27, told Us Weekly that she was thrilled to portray Oswald's wife.

"I am so excited for the challenge to portray Marina Oswald, and to do my first role speaking only in Russian," Trachtenberg said. "I'm the only actor playing someone who is still alive, so I want to stay as true to her as possible. This is a story about JFK's assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, and his wife Marina. And it is fascinating."

Marina Oswald Porter, 71, was born in Russia, and believes her late husband was innocent 50 years after Kennedy's murder. She resides in Dallas, Texas with her husband and children after remarrying in 1965, according to Us Weekly.

The film also stars Rob Lowe as JFK and Ginnifer Goodwin as Jacqueline Kennedy.

"We are thrilled to be working with Rob Lowe, Ginnifer Goodwin and Michelle Trachtenberg, three gifted artists who have responded to this timely, authentic and entertaining material," said Howard T. Owens, president of the National Geographic Channels, in a statement announcing the cast. "With Killing Kennedy, timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the assassination of JFK, National Geographic Channel continues to bring daring, culturally significant television events to our growing global audience."
