Teen Accused In Crime Spree Charged With Statutory Rape

One of the two 'Bonnie and Clyde' teenagers that went on an alleged crime spree across the south has been charged with statutory rape, USA Today reported on Friday.

Dalton Hayes, 18, is accused of luring his 13-year-old girlfriend Cheyenne Hayes on a 1,300-mile trip across numerous states in stolen cars. He entered the courtroom in tears and pled not guilty to numerous charges.

His charges include theft by unlawfully taking $10,000 or more, third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, third-degree criminal trespassing and sexual intercourse with someone under the age of 14. He is being held on a $250,000 cash bond.

Phillips is a minor so her charges will not be released, according to the Courier-Journal.

The couple caught national headlines after they disappeared from Kentucky and stole numerous vehicles, caused thousands of dollars in property and auto damage, used forged checks and eluded arrest for about two weeks.
