iPhone 6 Release Date and Rumors: Apple Faces Competition From Chinese Manufacturer Huawei

Apple Inc. has yet to announce any new products in their mobile lineup of iPhones and iPads. The only information available to the public is the company's CEO, Tim Cook, saying in multiple interviews that Apple will not be debuting any new devices until the fall.

Despite murky rumors about when the next generation of iPhone will come out, a Chinese company is already saying it's prepared for direct competition with Apple.

Huawei, a globally-known smartphone manufacturer, launched its new smartphone, the Ascend P6. They boast the Ascend P6 as being the world's thinnest smartphone. Richard Yu, Huawei's CEO directly challenged the likes of Apple and Samsung at the launch event for the new smartphone.

"With our flagship phones we want to compete with the Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5, 5s and iPhone 6," he said.

The company will try and take on the iPhone with massive spending on research and development with over 70,000 employees dedicated to making sure Huawei is at the peak of innovation and competition with the world's best smartphones.

Apple's iPhone 5s won't likely be released until September. As for the iPhone 6, the release date isn't expected any time before 2014. If leaks are correct, the iPhone 5s won't have any real difference from the iPhone 5 in terms of its physical appearance. This means any company looking to tackle the iPhones innovation must wait a long time to see exactly what the tech giant has to offer. Despite the lack of information, Huawei seems undeterred with their Ascend P6.

GottaBeMobile reports the Ascend P6 received good marks for its look and design. The phone did have a few problems in the performance department, receiving poor marks for lagging performance, overheating and "specs befitting a smartphone from 2012 rather than the middle of 2013."

Still, Huawei's new competitive nature is nothing for Apple or Samsung to scoff at. Huawei recently talked about buying Nokia, a brand that is more well-known in the U.S. that already has the trust and emotional connection of its user base. With technology, research and development and a potentially popular brand name on their side, Huawei might become quite the formidable smartphone manufacturer.
