Woman Pleaded Guilty To DUI Hours Before Fatal Crash

A woman pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol just hours before being involved in a fatal car crash that left two people dead, USA Today reported on Friday.

Stephanie L. Ferguson, 29, from Tennessee is suspected of being behind the wheel of a Toyota Tundra pickup truck when it slammed into a Cadillac sedan from behind. The people in the Cadillac, Willie Nichols, 64 and Aaron Hall, 48, were pronounced dead at a hospital in Nashville.

"We are all in shock," said Rod Fuller, Hall's stepson. "It's just hard to believe that he's gone. Hall was helping his friend find a new tire for his vehicle."

Ferguson and her passanger, 28-year-old Ashley Morrison, were seriously injured as well, according to police. Two other vehicles were in front of the Cadillac and became involved in the crash due to a chain reaction. Four people between those cars suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

On Facebook, Ferguson said she caused the crash due to a seizure.

Ferguson has been in and out of court since 2003, the Tennessean reported. Her driver's license was suspended at the time of the crash.

She had pleaded guilty to a DUI charge from Dec. 31, 2013 the morning of the crash. For that she will serve 11 months and 29 days behind bars.

The Nashville District Attorney's Office is investigating the crash.
