Brazil won all three of its matches to advance from the group stage. Now, one win away from the final, the squad must overcome Uruguay and its dangerous offense, Goal.com reports.
Despite the unrest in the Rio streets, the Brazil squad is focused on winning its fourth Confederations Cup. Japan and Mexico offered little resistance, but Italy proved a challenge for Brazil. The squad ultimately beat the Italians, 4-2, and advanced to the semifinals.
"I think Brazil are showing the power they've lacked in recent years. Their form was not good and that was not good for international football," Uruguay striker Luis Suarez said, according to Sky Sports. "Some national teams did not respect them in the same way because of big changes, even coaching changes, that they'd made. They had ups and downs.
"But now Brazil are earning respect once again. They are the Brazil we used to know and they have a great coach and a great star in Neymar."
Uruguay qualified for the semifinals in second place. The squad suffered a 2-1 loss to Spain, but bounced back to defeat Nigeria and Tahiti. Edinson Cavani, Diego Forlan and Suarez provide Uruguay with a high-scoring attack.
"Those three are very powerful forwards. Individually, they can decide a game," Brazil goalie Julio Cesar told reporters, according to Sky Sports. "I know all of them very well and we must pay attention because any lapse in concentration could see them decide the game."
Brazil is the favorite to win the match.
