iPhone 5s Rumors: New Photos of the Smartphone's Hardware Indicate a Better Processor and Confirm Dual-LED Camera

MacRumors, a blog dedicated to all things Apple Inc. released a pair of photos last week, which were supposedly leaked images of the iPhone 5s, which has yet to be announced by the company. MacRumors got its hands on more photos of the iPhone 5s on Wednesday, which show evidence the phone will have an improved processor.

The photos that surfaced last week only showed the iPhone 5s' bigger battery capacity and new dual-LED flash system. The new photos show evidence of an A7 processor rather than a modification of the A6 chip that was expected to be in the phone and is currently featured on the iPhone 5.

Apple is rumored to be trying to switch away from getting its chips from Samsung, however, those rumors had Apple switching over sometime in 2014 with the new A8 processor, not this year's anticipated A7, according to Apple Insider. According to MacRumors, additional markings on the iPhone 5s' inner workings show evidence it carries a Elpida DRAM, apparently in the same 1GB amount seen on the A6.

Some dates on other components to the leaked images indicate they are very early prototypes likely assembled in December of 2012, only weeks after the initial launch of the iPhone 5. This could mean the features seen in the phone are not final versions and subject to chopping or even upgrading.

In addition to the hardware specifications, the images provided a closer look at the back of the phone and have shown a clearer image of the dual-LED flash array. This will likely provide the iPhone 5s with the ability to take better photos in low-light conditions. With many wondering if Apple's iPhone 5s will be enough to end low demand for the smartphone, the new camera component and faster processors will help those who feel the phone isn't upgraded enough to compete with Android phones. However, only time will tell if these new bits of hardware will be enough.
