David Tennant Cast In Marvel’s ‘A.K.A. Jessica Jones’ On Netflix

David Tennant will use his dashing good looks for evil in Marvel's upcoming Netflix series "A.K.A. Jessica Jones," according to Marvel.com.

The former "Doctor Who" star will play the villainous Kilgrave opposite Krysten Ritter, who stars as the title character. Zebediah Kilgrave's, a.k.a. Purple Man, reemergence will "send shockwaves" through Jones' world.

"I'm so honored and excited by the prospect of David inhabiting this multifaceted character," executive producer Melissa Rosenberg told Marvel.com. "He can deliver the most heart-wrenching moment to the driest of lines, and all points in between. He'll make Kilgrave a truly original villain."

After a tragic ending to her short-lived Super Hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City.

"Anyone familiar with David's work knows he brings an incredible level of dedication to any role he inhabits, a level we knew we would need from the man playing Kilgrave," Jeph Loeb, executive producer and Marvel's Head of Television, told Marvel.com. "While most know him for his roles as a hero, we can't wait to unleash a whole new side of this talented actor."

Tennant found international fame as the 10th iteration of "Doctor Who" on the BBC. He recently starred in the short-lived "Gracepoint," the Fox remake of his other BBC series "Broadchurch."

The Scottish actor also joins Mike Colter, who will play the superhero Luke Cage. The 13-episode series premiere of "A.K.A. Jessica Jones" will start later this year on Netflix.
