Dropkick Murphys Ask Scott Walker To Stop Using Their Music

Musicians often get involved in politics, especially this time of year.

Celtic punk rock band Dropkick Murphys have an axe to grind with potential 2016 GOP presidential candidate, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, after he used the band's version of "I'm Shipping Up to Boston" as an intro to a recent speech, JS Online reported on Monday.

"Please stop using our music in any way .. . we literally hate you !!! Love, Dropkick Murphys" the band said on Twitter on Saturday.

The band is said to be "staunchly pro-workers' rights," and began having bad blood toward the governor when he created a bill in 2011 to balance the state budget by severely limiting the collective bargaining abilities of public sector employees, the New Civil Rights Movement reported. In essence, he limited the power of unions.

Dropkick Murphys then released a song called "Take 'Em Down," in favor of the unions that were protesting the changes in the state budget. The band also sold limited edition shirts that raised proceeds for the Workers' Rights Emergency Response Fund. In 2012, Wisconscin State Rep. Jeff Fitzgerald was called out by the band for using "Boston" as his GOP convention entrance song.
