Courtney Love is admitting that she used heroin during her pregnancy with her daughter in the first authorized documentary on Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, entitled "Kurt Cobain: Montage of a Heck," FOX News reported on Tuesday.
"In 2007 got a call from Courtney [Love, his wife] who wanted a film that went beyond the music. The journey started there. But I made this for Frances [Bean Cobain, the couple's daughter]. She gave me the keys to go and make the film," director Brett Morgen said. "If you come to the movie thinking that you are going to see the story of Nirvana, you are only going to be sorely disappointed. This is the Kurt Cobain story."
Bean, who is now 22, was the film's executive producer and used shots from her very first months of life, being raised by rock stars Love and Cobain who loved her dearly, but struggled with addiction and their own demons. Love admits to using while she was pregnant with Bean at a point in the film, Lancaster Online reported.
"I used it once then stopped," Love said. "I knew she would be fine."
The film also delves into Cobain's personal drive to be the father to Bean that he never had growing up.
"My father and I are very different people, I am capable of a lot more affection than he is," Cobain states in archival footage. "I don't want her to be screwed up."
Cobain wanted to only stay inside, do heroin and paint during the height of Nirvana's fame, according to Love. The famous musician's drug use is not shown in the film, but it becomes increasingly clear. In 1994, he committed suicide.
