'Bard's Tale IV' Is a Real Thing, Details Announced via Twitter

This past weekend Brian Fargo officially confirmed "The Bard's Tale IV" via Twitter. Check out his announcement tweet below:

Fargo, now of InXile Entertainment, was involved with the franchise from its inception in 1985. While the first game was mainly designed and programmed by Michael Cranford, he helped design the city and dungeon maps for the first two EA "Bard's Tale" titles. Fargo also directed the third game and the 2004 game, which was technically a reboot of the original and played more like a humorous "Diablo" clone than a straight up RPG.

In follow up tweets over the past few days, Fargo confirmed that the game is unconnected to the 2004 reboot and is a continuation of the main series, that he is actually looking into importing game saves from the original games, and that the game won't be a real time affair. Brian also alluded to InXile working on the game's atmosphere, indicating they are already well into development, albeit the preliminary stages.

Fargo intends to raise the money for development on "Bard's Tale IV" via Kickstarter, the same way InXile did for the highly successful "Wasteland 2," as well as another project in the middle of development, "Torment: Tides of Numenera."
