First and foremost, let me say this: At least it isn't Shia LaBeouf. And if we can't have the septuagenarian Harrison Ford, well, Chris Pratt would probably make a very good Dr. Henry Jones, Jr.
After the massive success of Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy," Pratt is reportedly being eyed to lead Disney's revival of the "Indiana Jones" franchise.
Deadline warns that this is all rumor at this stage of the game and nothing has been finalized. The studio's plans for Indy are still in the preliminary stages. That being said, they've heard that the studio wants to build a new "Indiana Jones" franchise around Pratt. He'd be playing the same risk-taking archaeologist character that almost every 80s lad grew up wanting to be, as portrayed by Ford in the original films.
A new "Indiana Jones" movie has been rumored since the last film (2008′s "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull"), but real progress has been slow. Even after Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012, a fifth "Indiana Jones" flick was said to be on the backburner.
But that doesn't mean Disney hasn't shown any interest in bringing back Dr. Jones. The studio finally got the distribution rights back from Paramount in 2013. As of last December, Disney CEO Bob Iger said he'd "love" to do more Indiana Jones, but that the studio was intent on getting the "Star Wars" money-making machine up and running first.
