All is well in a 102-year-old Texas woman's world again thanks to a replacement for her recently perished cat.
Iona L. found a new feline named Edward after she and her son ventured to the Mongomery County Animal Shelter in Conroe, Texas in search of a new one after Iona's pet of 10 years recently went up to cat heaven according to The Huffington Post.
"I'd had him for 10 years. I needed a companion," Iona told the Post.
The shelter's adoption coordinator Barbara Bates told The Post Iona and Edward's bond was like a match made in heaven.
"It just filled my heart," Bates said. "The kitty just snuggled right up to her. Matched her outfit she had on. I said, 'Iona, do you mind if I take your picture?' And she said, 'Honey, I sure hope I don't break your camera.'"
Bates said the connection and relationship a human has with their pet is a one of a kind sensation that only the parties involved can feel.
"To me, an animal gives you life, that a person can't, or material things can't. You come home from a stressful day, and they want to kiss on you. It just makes everything bad go away. So it just touched my heart. And I'm just glad that what I felt came out in the photo."
