Kumar Sangakkara's 81 runs provided the only real source of offense for Sri Lanka in the sixth ODI, with skipper Lahiru Thirimanne's 29 runs being the second-highest score for the team.
On the bowling front, Sri Lanka allowed New Zealand a run rate of 6.3. Dhammika Prasad led the Sri Lankan bowlers with 10 outs and two of the team's five total wickets taken.
