Family and friends of actor James Gandolfini came together Thursday morning to say one last goodbye.
According to E! News, the actor was laid to rest Thursday following a funeral service at Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City today. Gandolfini's wife, Deborah was present at the service and said a few words on behalf of her late husband.
"My husband was an honest, kind and loving man," she said, according to the New York Daily News. "He cared more about others than himself. He took the time to ask others in the course of the day how they were doing."
Many of Gandolfini's co-stars from "The Sopranos" joined the family including Edie Falco, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Lorraine Bracco and Michael Imperioli. Gov. Chris Christie joined in the funeral services, as did Brian Williams and Julianna Marguiles.
"A lot has been said about James' work. He was a master. As his friend and creative collaborator over 25 years, I can attest to that," said Susan Aston, a longtime friend of Gandolfini. "He used his brilliant mind to ask the questions that would prepare his heart for the scene. But when the scene started, James came into absolute presence."
The man behind "The Sopranos," David Chase said a few words at the service as well.
"And that's why I think you were such a great actor, because of that boy inside," Chase said. "I think your talent is that you can take the immensity of humankind and the universe and shine it right back at us."
Gandolfini died on June 19 after suffering a heart attack in Italy. He was 51 years old. He was best known for his role on the HBO series as Tony Soprano. The role gave him three Emmy wins and a Golden Globe.
