Potterheads and Oyster users rejoice! The online book rental service is now offering the popular book series for rent.
Oyster, which was introduced in 2011 and is marketed as the "Netflix for books, teamed up with Pottermore, an interactive website run by series author J.K. Rowling and Sony that lets users learn more about the wizarding world, to provide readers access to the books. Paying for the service ($9.95 a month) to read the book is far cheaper for than buying the digital copies of the seven books, which costs $57.50 in total.
However, unlike most digital readings, Oyster's copy of Harry Potter has some special features built in. If a reader opens the first book, they'll be asked which of the four Hogwarts houses they want to be sorted into. The reader's choice will impact the color and typography of how they read the book. CNET said that it was a "bit gimmicky....but a fun add-on that Oyster's "Harry Potter" fans are sure to enjoy as they re-read the series."
Potter fans will also be able to read the supplementary book "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" on Oyster. "Fantastic Beasts" is currently being adapted into a movie trilogy by Rowling herself. The first film in the trilogy will hit theaters in 2016.
