Uncharted Movie Rumors: Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg Turn Down Offers to Write Naughty Dog Script For 4 Years (VIDEO)

Writing partners Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have reportedly been approached multiple times over the past four years by game developer Naughty Dog to write the script for a movie based on their popular "Uncharted" series.

Rogen and Goldberg spilled the beans while IGN was setting up for an interview with the two about their newest movie "This Is The End," which came out June 12. While they were speaking candidly in the video, posted below, it's unclear if the two writers were aware they were being filmed at the time. The two writing partners have collaborated on several projects, starting with "Da Ali G Show." Since that time, they've worked together on projects like "Knocked Up," Superbad" and "Pineapple Express."

"They're constantly asking me and Evan to make the Uncahrted movie," Rogen told IGN.

The reason the two haven't jumped on board with the project, despite being very big gaming fans is because they cannot think of a way to treat the project that won't make it identical to another popular action series.

"It's just going to be Indiana Jones," Goldberg said. "If we could figure out a way to make it not Indiana Jones, it'd be awesome."

An Uncharted movie has been dropping in and out of development since mid-2007. Various directors have been attached to the project over the years. The closest the film ever came to being made was in 2011 when David O. Russell was signed on to direct but dropped out very abruptly citing creative differences with Sony. That project had already cast Mark Wahlberg in the main role as Nathan Drake, the game's title character. Robert De Niro and Joe Peschi were cast to play Drake's father and uncle, respectively.

Neil Burger was briefly slated to take over for Russell after his departure but there's currently no director attached to the film, leaving it at a year-long standstill. The last news reported by IGN was screenwriters, and obviously second choices to Rogen and Goldberg, Marianne and Cormac Wibberley, of "National Treasure" and "Bad Boys II."
