Before walking down the aisle for a second time, actress Gabrielle Union made sure she was marrying for love and not money.
The 42-year-old "Being Jane" star explained to Yahoo! Style why she insisted on having a prenuptial agreement before marrying then-fiancé and Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade.
"For women in Hollywood, when they're coupling, everything is about the brand. Everything is about latching on to a rising star, so you can kick your heels up. That's never been my story, ever," Union told Yahoo Style. "I make sure to let people know all of the hard work that's gone into my career."
The "Bring it On" actress said before she met Wade in 2007 she worked hard to pay off her student loans from UCLA. Union added that it's important to her that people know she didn't just marry for fame and money.
"I want people to know the work that it took to get through UCLA, that I had student loans and worked," she continued. "I was eating Top Ramen and lived well below my means. Now that it's time to get married to a man, [that] happens to play basketball and has done well for himself, I want to make it clear that I have in no way hitched my wagon to his star. I have my own wagon and star."
Union and Wade tied the knot last August at the Chateau Artisan castle in Miami after four years of dating. This is the second marriage for both celebrities.
