Troopers Seize 235 Pounds Of Marijuana During Traffic Stop

Ohio Highway Patrol officers caught a couple carrying 235 pounds of marijuana in their car and they are now facing criminal charges, the Telegraph-Forum reported on Thursday.

Kimberly Benson, 42, and Daniel Essad, 62, are being charged with being in possession and trafficking the drug, both felonies. A police dog alerted officers to the presence of drugs in the Chevrolet pick-up truck just before 4 p.m. on Jan. 21. In total, the pot has a street value of $1.2 million.

The couple is from Reno, NV and are residing in the Lorain County Jail, according to the Ohio State Patrol. They face a maximum of 16 years in prison and a $30,000 fine each.
