Pilot Locked Out Of Cockpit On Delta Air Lines Flight

A Delta Air Lines flight bound for Minneapolis from Las Vegas had to make an early landing when the pilot was locked out of the cockpit after a door malfunction, CBS News reported on Thursday.

The aircraft, Flight 1651, landed successfully at McCarran International Airport just after noon. The door locked the pilot out of the cockpit when it made an error and the first officer had to land the plane.

There were 168 people on board and no one was injured during the ordeal.

The airline company will investigate the mechanics in the faulty door, the Review Journal reported.

"A commercial aircraft can be landed with one pilot at the control and Delta pilots are fully trained to do so if the situation were to occur," a statement said. "The First Officer took control and landed the aircraft safely without incident. The door will be evaluated by Delta maintenance technicians."
