A father-and-son hunting duo bagged an over 700 pound wild hog earlier this month in the North Carolina mountains with just one shot, Fox News reported.
Bruce Florence and son Jonathan Florence were hiking the mountains on Jan. 16 when the two parted ways. Jonathan went to find out what was making a nearby bush rustle.
Three small hogs were forced out when he went into the brush, but at the last minute, "the big boy blasted out," as he said. The large animal headed right for his dad, Jonathan said.
Bruce, who has killed some much small wild hogs, compared the beast to a charging buffalo.
Charging right for them, it turned just slightly and exposed sensitive body parts. Bruce shot it from 30 yards away and killed the hog instantly.
"But I wish the world could have saw the hog in the back of my truck," Bruce said, according to WSET. "But he's a trophy, he's a trophy. It was a huge animal, I've got a 2010 Toyota truck and he filled up the back end of my truck."
Bruce said he plans to display the head in his log cabin and him and his family will eat most of it.
"Last Saturday morning I ate tenderloin at 9 a.m. and by Saturday afternoon I was eating sausage," Bruce said.
The biggest pig hunted on record in North Carolina was one weighing 500 pounds.
