As the film adaptation of the bestselling book series "Fifty Shades Of Grey" gains a director and a release date, fans have been eagerly speculating on who will play the roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the infamous BDSM-themed novel.
The release date for the highly anticipated film is set for August 2014, and Sam Taylor-Johnson was recently hired to direct the film, with the screenplay adapted by Kelly Marcel. Author E.L. James is among the movie's producers.
As for the future cast, nearly every hot actor has been considered for the role by fans, and currently the movie is relishing the hype of the mystery surrounding the future players. No one has any idea who will nab the roles, but according to The Inquisitor, there are five actors that will definitely have no part in the new movie.
For starters, "Harry Potter" alum Emma Watson has been nominated for the role of Anastasia, the story's virginal protagonist. But back in August, Watson shaded the series and effectively shut down any rumors that she would be involved.
"Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie? Like really. For real. In real life," the star tweeted.
Heartthrob Henry Cavill of "Superman" fame has also been considered, but Cavill recently revealed that when approached about playing Christian Grey, the idea made him uncomfortable.
"Not exactly chaste writing, is it?" he said after skimming through the first few chapters of the book. "I've always preferred the implied sex scene anyway, because having it spelled out always seems a bit tacky. Sex is so readily available to us in every form of media now, so it's no longer that exciting on screen."
Then there's Armie Hammer, an actor that many fans are "dying" to see play Christian Grey. However, the 26-year old actor has slammed the series when asked about considering the part.
"No one actually offered me the movie, but while I was working on 'Lone Ranger' my agent brought it up, and I said 'Nope.' I mean, come on it's just mommy porn. I'm not going to sit on top of the laundry machine in spin cycle reading about putting a ball gag in someone's mouth. That doesn't do it for me," he confirmed.
As for "Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder, the actor admitted it would be a "phenomenal opportunity" in an interview with Ryan Seacrest, but recently took to Twitter to tell his fans to relax on the subject of him playing Christian Grey.
"OK, this Christian Grey thing has gotten out of control," he tweeted. "Know this, [I'm] not 'desperate' to do anything except relax today.Be positive."
Though you wouldn't necessarily think Jonah Hill would be right for the role of Grey, the actor and comedian is known for making fun of all of the casting madness at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards.
"Emma Watson is such a beautiful, lovely, talented, hard-working person. I'm very appreciative to be in her life. That's why I want to take this opportunity to announce officially that we will be starring in the screen adaptation of 'Fifty Shades of Grey'," he joked. "Emma, it's going to be very difficult to go back to being casual, after we start to go so deep into these characters and start exploring each other in such a detailed way. Whew. It's gonna get rough out there. But I need you to know one thing: My safety word is tangerine."
"Gilmore Girls" alum Alexis Bledel is currently a fan favorite for the role of Anastasia Steele.
