Minnesota Man Tries Shoving Umbrella Down Girlfriend's Throat, Bites Her Ear Off And Sets Cat On Fire, Cops Say

A Minnesota man was held by police on Sunday for a series of heinous assaults, including shoving an umbrella down his girlfriend's throat and beheading her pet.

Drunk off vodka, 51-year-old Michael Trudeau choked and slammed his girlfriend's head into the ground at their Chaska apartment before he tried shoving an umbrella down her throat, the woman said according to a criminal complaint obtained by CBS Minnesota.

When the girlfriend bit Trudeau's finger in defense, he allegedly bit part of her ear off and spat it out. Doctors were never able to reattach the part she lost.

Police responding to a domestic assault call arrived at the Cedar Creek Apartments and arrested Trudeau, whom they say was found covered in blood and tried searching for a weapon. He also appeared "extremely agitated" and told police he wanted them to shoot him, according to the complaint.

The woman, who was also bloody, said she lost consciousness several times during the assault that began with an argument about their relationship.

Officers had to use a stun gun to subdue and arrest the suspect.

Trudeau and the alleged victim, 42, have dated for two years but it wasn't until a few weeks ago that she became afraid of him after he killed her cat, the woman said.

He set the cat on fire, choked it, got a pair of scissors and cut its head off in their living room, she said according to CBS Minnesota. Trudeau allegedly threatened to do the same to her.

Trudeau, who has previous convictions for domestic violence and animal cruelty, remains in custody on charges of assault, making terroristic threats and mistreating animals.

He faces up to 34 years in prison if convicted.
