Super Bowl 2015: What To Watch On Sunday Other Than The Big Game

More than 110 million people tuned in for Super Bowl 2014, and NBC will likely see similar ratings this year. The network will start their coverage at noon with the special, "Together, We Make Football," and the pregame show beginning at 1 p.m.

Millions more will opt to watch something else on Sunday night and HNGN has a complete list of alternative TV programming options to the NFL championship game.

"60 Minutes Presents: The Many Sounds of Music" at 7 p.m. on CBS

The news program will profile the Foo Fighters, Blake Shelton and the famous Stradivarius violins created in Italy. Anderson Cooper will sit down with Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters to talk about work on their new special project in New Orleans. Shelton will discuss his music and lifestyle with Norah O'Donnell, and Bill Whitaker will travel to Cremona, Italy where musicians continue to craft multi-million-dollar violins in the same style as the famous luthier, Antonio Stradivari.

"Puppy Bowl XI" at 7 p.m. on Animal Planet

America's cutest puppies meet on the gridiron once again for the annual furry competition. The network has raised the stakes for the 11th edition of the canine games, splitting the dogs into two teams and keeping scores and stats on the game.

"Kitten Bowl II" at 6 p.m. on Hallmark

Cat lovers can watch three hours of adorable kittens roll around and push little mouse toys as they challenge the puppies running amok over on Animal Planet. The feline football championship returns for a second year and is presented in association with North Shore Animal League America, the nation's largest no-kill shelter and animal adoption organization.

"Downton Abbey" at 9 p.m. on PBS

Season five of the BBC series continues its American run. Rose meets a new young man and the dowager catches wind of Edith's relationship to Marigold.

"Shameless," "House of Lies" and "Episodes" starting at 9 p.m. on Showtime

HBO chose not to compete with first-run episodes, but Showtime will air new episodes of their Sunday lineup. On "Shameless," Frank has to retrace his steps from an epic bender while Gus confesses his love for Fiona and the two head to city hall.

On the next "House of Lies," Marty devises a last-ditch effort after his presentation falls apart and Jeannie meets with a headhunter. On "Episodes," Sean's former writing partner causes legal troubles for him and Beverly.

Alaskan Bush People: Off the Grid at 9 p.m. on Discovery Channel

The Brown family compete with bears for food in the wilderness in this special two-hour episode.
