There has been a lot of speculation as to where Milwaukee Bucks guard Brandon Jennings would end up this off season once free agency began. As far as the Bucks are concerned, they hope Jennings stays right where is he is, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Bucks general manager John Hammond said the team plans to put a vast amount of effort into resigning their point guard. Jennings has been in Milwaukee ever since the organization drafted him in 2009.
"It's our intention for Brandon Jennings to remain a Milwaukee Buck," said Hammond. "We're hoping to negotiate with him fairly through the July process.
Hammond added: “At the conclusion of our negotiations, if we have not reached a deal and they choose to go out and seek an opportunity in the open market, our intention then would still be to match."
In the 2012-2013 season, Jennings averaged 17.5 points per game, 3.1 rebounds and 6.5 assists while shooting approximately 40 percent from the field.
"I don't think we should ever negate what Brandons has done for us over the last four years," said the Bucks GM. "In his four years in the NBA he's been on two playoff teams. He's made tremendous efforts for us.
"He's been a warrior. It would be very unfair to us to underrate his prominence within our team," Hammond went on to say.
The Bucks will probably need Jennings since their other star scoring guard, Monta Ellis, did not re-sign with the team and is expected to go elsewhere. Ellis gave the Bucks 19.2 ppg, 6.0 assists and 2.1 steals.
One of the major reasons the Bucks may want to keep Jennings is his durability. Although he’s a scrawny kid at 6’1” 160 pounds, he has only missed 2 games out of his 291 games played.
