Pixel Art 'Simpson's' Opening Is Retro Cool in All the Right Ways (WATCH IT)

I was never a huge fan of "The Simpson's" but, regardless, I've always admired the show's longevity and creativity.

That being said, I think this is the best thing I've seen done with "The Simpson's" characters and/or property in quite some time. Animators Paul Robertson and Ivan Dixon directed this enchanting tribute, made entirely with pixel art. To complete the video game feel, artist and musician Jeremy Dower created a simple, chiptune version of the cartoon's original theme song that takes some liberties...but in all the right places.

The best part for me, however, is the psychedelic couch gag at the end that appears to be a mish-mash of "Sgt. Pepper" era Beatles/ Peter Max "Pop Art" and "2001: A Space Odyssey" featuring Simpson's characters. Thanks to Polygon for the heads up.
