Honda said Friday it will recalling some of its Honda Fit cars due to a possible fire issue, according to the Los Angeles Times. Approximately 143,000 vehicles will be recalled.
The Fit’s that have the issue are the 2007 and 2008 model years of the hatchback. The problem is with the master power window switch. The switch could be open to damage from water and other fluids. According to Honda this could cause the switch to become too hot which would then lead to melting and a possible fire.
The Japanese-based car maker said there have been no accidents or injuries due to this issue.
This is the second Honda recall this year involving the environmentally-friendly Fit. In April, it recalled 43,700 Honda Fit Sport cars.
The company cited issues with the electronic stability control units as the reason for the earlier recall. According to Honda the ESC units, "may allow excessive yaw rates at high steering angles with certain tires.” This issue would create a large risk for a crash.
Honda also had another recall in March due to break issues. Of the approximately 250,000 cars that were recalled at that time, 180,000 of them were from the company’s luxury branch, Acura.
While the March recall saw many Acuras facing recall, the luxury arm of Honda is excited about one of its newest vehicles, the 2014 Acura MDX crossover. Earlier this month, the brand announced it would be releasing the biggest ad campaign in the company’s history to market the crossover.
