Instagram updated its app Wednesday to make it easier for users to re-watch videos.
The update, which was done for both the iPhone app, has videos loop continuously rather than play once and stop, and it follows a similar update made recently to the Android version, according to Mashable.
Looping can make it more convenient for viewers who want to re-watch short videos and show them quickly to their friends. Advertisers will also benefit from the update, since videos sponsored by their products will also replay.
The move also puts the video-sharing social network in competition with Vine, which already lets people upload 6-second videos that are often designed to loop, The Verge reported.
Instagram's 15-second videos will also loop when they are embedded on websites, Mashable reported. The company said looping will not impact the way the app's data is used.
The update follows almost three years after Instagram was purchased by Facebook while it was still a photo-sharing service, and almost two years after the service started letting people share videos.
Instagram also recently announced that it has obtained over 300 million users.
