Despite multiple sources claiming that Canadian pop star Avril Lavigne and Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger have already tied the knot, the stars are not yet married, the Daily Mail reports, as Lavigne's reps recently confirmed to People that their wedding is still up and coming...and sooner than you might think!
Saturday morning, the CEO of the talent company that represents Lavigne, Mike Heller, tweeted: "I'm in south of France about to see my little Rok star #avril get married I am so happy to be part of this special celebration." The tweet caused fans and the media to speculate that Lavigne had gotten married over the weekend, but Lavigne's camp shot down the rumor. It looks like eager fans were reading too much into the excited tweet, and a source told US Weekly that the couple are "technically not married yet."
Instead, the singers had a "wedding party" in which they dressed up in fun costumes and hammed it up for the cameras over the weekend.
So when will these two walk down the aisle? The two plan to officially tie the knot today, according to the Daily Mail!
The 28-year old singer previously revealed she wanted an intimate, lavish wedding. "I just want to make sure I really enjoy this amazing time and I want all the guests who come to have this once in a lifetime experience," Lavigne said earlier this year. "I want everyone to say, 'Wow!' and for it to be special for everyone, not just us."
When the star spoke to HELLO! UK last month, she revealed that she event will be "spectacular," and even include some surprises!
"Some things will be a surprise. Some things will be what he likes and still will surprise him! Our wedding song will be a duet we recorded together for my new album. It evolved into this wonderful thing. When you're sitting there signing across from somebody into the microphone and you're singing a love song, you start to develop these feelings for that person, and it just blossomed into this thing."
Kroeger proposed to Lavigne with a 14-carat diamond ring last August after one month of dating. The Nickelback singer said he never expected to get married, but that all changed when he met Avril Lavigne.
"You can travel the world and sing songs to thousands of people and not have your heartbeat raised at all," Kroeger said at the time on his proposal. "You get down on one knee and commit yourself to a woman for the rest of your life. I was very nervous!
There was a time in my life that I thought I would never get married. But this definitely took me by storm. Honestly, it was more my idea than hers to get married. I'm just lucky she said yes."
The two wrote a duet together called "Let Me Go," and hopefully they will release it after the wedding for fans, as Lavigne hinted that they might.
