No. 25 Texas is looking to end their three-game losing streak. Saturday's 83-60 blowout loss at Baylor displayed the Longhorns' recent struggles from the field, where they're shooting 44.4 percent over their last three games. Shooting is clearly an issue for Texas, but according to senior forward Jonathan Holmes, there's another issue: defense.
"When you are not making shots, the urgency on defense should be even higher," he said, according to ESPN. "It starts from defense and you from there."
Texas is now 14-7 with a chance to split their season-series against unranked Oklahoma State, who handed the Longhorns a 69-58 loss on Jan. 10.
The Cowboys, though, have been uneven since mid-January. They've lost three of their last five games, including Saturday's 64-56 loss to interstate rival Oklahoma. Oklahoma State appeared to lose gas in the second half, where they were outscored by 15 points.
"Obviously, they got too many 50-50 balls and second shots in the second half," coach Travis Ford said. "We've got to be a little bit tougher in the second half. I think we kind of lost our wind in the second half. I told them that we've got to keep our head up and move on. You can't feel sorry for yourself. We don't have time for that. Keep your head up and move on."
