NBC renewed all five of its proven series for next fall season.
The network announced on Thursday that it will host new seasons of "The Blacklist" (third season), "Chicago PD" (third season), "Chicago Fire" (fourth season) and "Grimm" (fifth season) during the 2015-2016 TV season.
"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" also received the green light for a 17th season thanks to posting its highest-rated season since 2008-09. The "Law & Order" spin-off is the longest-running drama currently on TV and three seasons shy of overtaking the franchise flagship series and "Gunsmoke" as the longest-running scripted TV shows (non-animated).
"The Simpsons" currently holds the record for all scripted TV series with 26 seasons and counting.
Decisions on NBC's freshmen series will likely come in May when the network decides which new shows to pick up. One of those new series could be another "Chicago" spin-off from Dick Wolf, "Chicago Medical." "Chicago Fire" will introduce the characters in the Feb. 19 episode.
Other first season shows awaiting a renewal decision are "Mysteries of Laura," "State of Affairs," "Constantine" and "Marry Me" as well as a few series yet to air including "Allegiance" (Feb. 5), "Odyssey" (April 5) and "One Big Happy" (March 17).
