It's like he wanted to get caught.
A man suspected of robbing a Florida convenience store was nabbed after he left his wallet at the scene of the crime, police told WKMG.
Benjamin Shaw walked into the Circle K convenience store in Cape Canaveral on Monday night and demanded the clerk give him $40, the Brevard County Sheriff's Office said.
Shaw - in full view of the store's surveillance camera - allegedly placed his wallet on the counter before demanding the money a second time. Investigators said the suspect was offering his wallet in exchange for money.
When the clerk still refused, Shaw threatened to return with a gun, police said.
The cashier forked over the 40 bucks and Shaw fled the store, leaving his wallet on the counter. His driver's license was inside, the station reported.
Police arrived, recovered the wallet and arrested Shaw a few blocks away from the scene.
"You really don't see this very often, but thankfully the clerk thought ahead and was able to find a way to identify the suspect," Dave Jacobs of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office told WKMG.
Shaw was charged with robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains held at the Brevard County Jail.
