The Doctor will endure yet another regeneration, this time emerging as a blocky Lego character.
A "Doctor Who"-themed Lego set will go into production this year, the Lego Group announced Wednesday morning (via DoctorWho.tv).
The concept for the set was chosen after "Doctor Who" fan Andrew Clark submitted a design on the Lego Ideas website, where fans can vote for their favorite ideas to be produced. Clark, who works as a video game artist, offered a design featuring an unfolding TARDIS and a variety of Doctors, including the manifestations played by fan favorites David Tennant, Tom Baker (my personal favorite) and the current Doctor, Peter Capaldi. His concept also included several companions and villains, among them the Cybermen, Daleks and Weeping Angels.
Lego has yet to release details about which characters and features will appear in the toy set, but fans won't have to wait too long; a licensing agreement between BBC Worldwide and the Lego Group will see the new set on store shelves before the end of the year, according to a press statement from BBC.
