The Best Friends Animal Society sanctuary in Utah's Angel Canyon, a great vacation spot for animal lovers, is celebrating its 30th year.
At the sanctuary you can relax and soak in the beauty of the canyon, or take a guided tour with the sanctuary's residents. You can even stay overnight and invite an adoptable pet to have a sleepover with you!
The sanctuary is home to several different species of animals each living in separate areas - Dogtown, Cat World, Horse Haven, Marshall's Piggy Paradise, Bunny House, Parrot Garden and Wild Friends.
Although guests love visiting all of the different species, co-founder Gregory Castle told Dogster that "everyone loves the puppies and kittens."
To get some extra time with a specific group of animals, Castle recommends taking the short orientation class at the sanctuary. The class briefly goes over basic instructions and safety guidelines. Once you have the class under your belt, you can help out by taking care of the animals for as long or as little time as you would like.
It's important to the sanctuary to have people spending time with the animals because it helps the pets work on their people skills before they are adopted and brought into their new home, Castle told Dogster.
"We want visitors to leave feeling that animals are really important and that they are of great value to people in their lives. We want to enhance that as much as possible," Castle told Dogster.
