Sony's FMP-X1 4K Ultra HD Media Player is finally making its way to the retail stores July 15, following its availability online with a price tag of $699 and an introductory discount for X900A 4K TV owners.

Sony Corporation, one of the leading manufacturers of electronic products, unveiled the 4K Ultra HD Media Player at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) earlier in January. The media player is designed to play content four times greater than 1080p resolution, but only on Sony 4K Ultra HD TV.

Sony 4K Ultra HD Media Player is available online, at a price tag of $699 and special introductory discount of $200 for the owners of Sony X900A 4K Ultra HD TV. The media player is pre loaded with 10 Hollywood movies in 4K Ultra HD including "The Amazing Spider-Man", "Bad Teacher", "The Karate Kid","The Other Guys", "Battle: Los Angeles", "That's My Boy", "Salt", "Total Recall 2012", "Taxi Driver" and "The Bridge on the River Kwai". Sony will also offer 24-hour rental starting $7.99 and purchases will start at $29.99.

Sony will also be introducing a wide range of videos on Unlimited 4K, which is the world's first company to offer a regularly updated library of full-length 4K feature films and TV shows. Any favorite shows or feature presentations can be stored on the spacious 2TB hard drive built inside the 4K Ultra HD Media Player. Sony gives an option to add external storage via hard drive, sold separately in retail stores. The media player includes 1 ethernet port, 1 audio and video output each in the rear, SD card slot in the front and 2 USB ports (1 in the rear for the external hard drive and 1 in the front).
