'Xenoblade Chronicles 3D': Coming to the New Nintendo 3DS in April (WATCH IT)

"Xenoblade Chronicles 3D," the upcoming port of Monolith Soft's Wii role-playing game, will launch exclusively for the New Nintendo 3DS on April 10, Nintendo confirmed today with a new trailer.

The game is playable only on the New Nintendo 3DS, not older models of the handheld. The New Nintendo 3DS XL launches Feb. 13 and will sell for $200.

The main reason "Xenoblade Chronicles 3D" is exclusive to the New 3DS is because the system packs a beefier CPU which is necessary to running the massive game. It's the only game to be announced so far that requires the new system, which also plays all regular 3DS games.

The original "Xenoblade Chronicles" was released for Wii in Japan in 2010. After a fan petition, the game ended up being released in Europe in 2011 and in North America in 2012.

"Xenoblade Chronicles" is widely considered one of the best games that came out on the Wii. It has an overall Metacritic score of 92. Thanks to IGN for the tip.
