Rosie O’Donnell Exits ‘The View’

Rosie O'Donnell will make an early exit from "The View" following her return to the show in September.

O'Donnell recently split with her wife Michelle Rounds and wants to focus on her children, according to Page Six. The couple has been living separately for the past few months.

"I can confirm that Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November," O'Donnell's rep Cindi Berger said in a statement on Friday. "Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave 'The View.' Next week will be her last."

The 52-year-old comedian and actress married Rounds in 2012. A year later, the couple adopted a baby girl to add to O'Donnell's four older children.

She previously co-hosted the daytime talk show during the 2006-2007 season. Following Barbara Walters' retirement last May, the program elevated Whoopi Goldberg to moderator, brought back O'Donnell and added new co-hosts Rosie Perez and conservative analyst Nicolle Wallace.

The tension between Goldberg and O'Donnell has been well reported. The two allegedly argued frequently behind the scenes, but ABC insists that O'Donnell's decision to leave was "very personal," according to Page Six.

ABC also issued a statement on O'Donnell's exit:

"Rosie is an immensely talented star who comes in each and every morning brimming with ideas, excitement and passion for the show. When she told us she wanted to exit 'The View,' we respected and understood her desire to put her well-being and her family first. We're delighted she's still part of the ABC family with upcoming guest appearances on 'The Fosters,' and we know she'll return to 'The View' often with her unique point of view and updates on her work and her family."

On Valentine's Day, HBO will air O'Donnell's new special titled "A Heartfelt Stand Up" about her near-fatal heart attack in 2012.
