'The Walking Dead: 400 Days' Release Date and Price: Next Installment Rolls Out This Week (TRAILER)

The Walking Dead video game has become incredibly popular since it's release, gaining 90 game of the year awards in 2012. New downloadable content for the first season of the game will become available this week with a new story and five new characters.

"The Walking Dead: 400 Days" will act as the transition episode between "The Walking Dead: The Game" and whatever the second season will hold for fans of the smash hit TV series and game.

On Monday, IGN confirmed release dates for the games. The game will have a specific release date depending on how people want to play it. The breakdown looks like this:

Tuesday, July 2 - PlayStation Network (North America)

Wednesday, July 3 - PC/Mac (Steam, Telltale Game Store)

Friday, July 5 - Xbox Live (Worldwide)

Wednesday, July 10 - PlayStation Network (Europe)

Thursday, July 11 - iOS (WorldWide)

The game centers around five different characters: Bonnie, Shel, Wyatt, Russell and Vince, with five individual stories that all take place within the same 400 days. They can be played in any order. Despite being set in Robert Kirkman's zombie apocalypse universe, the games aren't a typical zombie slasher. In fact, they're quite the opposite with much of the game's action centered around several split decision moments where characters need to choose who to save and who to let die or solve a puzzle to figure out how to continue to survive safely.

Each decision affects the outcome of the rest of the game. As a result, some of the decisions made in the first chapters of season one will affect what happens in the new downloadable content, so TellTale recomends completing those chapters before moving on to the new ones. However, only a download of Season one's first chapter will be necessary to play the new ones.

As for whether or not some of the old characters who survived season one will return, Telltale simply won't say. IGN reports that, at best, all the company's spokespeople are willing to do is quip "Who knows?" to any questions about the game's plot or crossover characters.

The game goes on sale for $4.99 on the appropriate dates.
