'Hitman: Agent 47' Trailer Drops, Looks Like Over-the-Top Fun (WATCH IT)

The first trailer for the thrilling extravaganza "Hitman: Agent 47" is out. The movie is based on the popular video game franchise, which I'm a big fan of, and it looks like a high-octane action flick...as well it should be. It stars Rupert Friend ("Homeland") and Zachary Quinto ("Star Trek: Into Darkness").

I have to say this looks much better than I expected, at least at this stage of the game. It certainly looks better than the 2007 version with Timothy Olyphant. But, I'm surprised that Quinto is in this, especially since he seems to be very picky about the projects he does these days. I mean, he turned down the "Heroes" reboot, so I'm not sure why he would do this? While it looks cool from an action standpoint, the plot and characters introduced here seem pretty generic (i.e. he's the cop protecting the scientist's sexy daughter from an unstoppable, biogenetically engineered killer).

The film's synopsis is as follows:

"'Hitman: Agent 47' centers on an elite assassin who was genetically engineered from conception to be the perfect killing machine, and is known only by the last two digits on the barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. He is the culmination of decades of research, and forty-six earlier Agent clones, endowing him with unprecedented strength, speed, stamina and intelligence. His latest target is a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47's past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own. Teaming up with a young woman who may hold the secret to overcoming their powerful and clandestine enemies, 47 confronts stunning revelations about his own origins and squares off in an epic battle with his deadliest foe."

The movie was directed by Aleksander Bach, and it's set to be released on Aug. 28, 2015. Thanks to Eurogamer for the tip.
