Miniature Schnauzer Shows How Loyal Dogs Can Really Be

After an Iowa woman was hospitalized for a week, and separated from her pups, she learned how loyal her miniature schnauzers really are.

Nancy Franck was hospitalized due to complications from a recent cancer surgery that prolonged her stay at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, reported Iowa Public Radio. During this time she was separated from her two miniature schnauzers, Sissy and Barney.

After being hospitalized for about a week, Sissy couldn't take waiting for Franck to come back home any longer, so she decided to take things into her own paws.

Franck's husband, Bucko, put the two dogs out on Friday morning while he worked on a broken furnace in the house. After some time passed, he called the dogs back in but there was one problem - Sissy was missing!

Bucko told Iowa Public Radio that he was "scared to death" and he and his daughter Sarah Wood searched everywhere for the pup. They couldn't find her anywhere.

After that, one of the strangest things imaginable happened. Bucko got a call and learned that Sissy had been found safe and sound, 20 blocks away inside of Mercy Medical Center - the same hospital where Nancy was being treated (Sissy has never been to this hospital before).

Bucko and Wood drove right up to the hospital to retrieve Sissy from the security guard who found her. With a little convincing, the guard allowed them to bring Sissy in to see her mother.

"We could only stay and few minutes, but I think she enjoyed every second of that few minutes," Wood told Iowa Public Radio.
