'Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep' Organization Captures Parent's Last Moments With Their Terminally Ill Babies

The "Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep" (NILMDTS) organization is helping parents treasure their last moments with their terminally ill newborns in the hospital.

When the organization is notified, they send a photographer to capture precious moments of the parents with their baby so they will forever be able to remember their dying baby.

"When the hospitals know about our services then we find the demand is high," Robbyn Erickson, NILMDTS Board President, told Mirror. "When people are made aware of the gift we can deliver they are so happy to have our services to offer to their families. The idea has been received well in the UK. Grief knows no country boundaries, it comes wherever you live and to be able to offer such a priceless gift is a privilege."

The program, which started 10 years ago in the U.S. and is making its way to the U.K., was started by bereaved mom Cheryl Haggard just two months after losing her infant son Maddux, reported Mirror.

Maddux had rare muscle disease myotubular myopathy and died just six days after being born when Haggard had to make the dreadful decision of taking him off life support.

In the time before Maddux took his last breath, Haggard took pictures with him without his tubes. Those keepsake pictures are what inspired her to make photographers available to get other parents those same sacred pictures.

Below are just a few of the pictures taken by NILMDTS photographers for bereaved parents:
