Skye's father Cal, a.k.a. The Doctor, faced a minor setback in his quest to win back the heart of his daughter in the midseason finale of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." He will not give up and soon teams up with "a Gifted woman" who has her own ax to grind with S.H.I.E.L.D.
Drea de Matteo will join the cast as the new villainous character Karla Fay Gideon when the ABC series returns in March, Marvel announced on Thursday.
"We're thrilled to have Drea join us as yet another great villain to challenge our cast," said Jeph Loeb, executive producer and Head of Marvel Television. "We relished the opportunity to work with her in such a menacing role."
Matteo is best known for her Emmy-winning role in "The Sopranos." She's also made notable appearances on "Sons of Anarchy," "Desperate Housewives" and "Joey."
"S.H.I.E.L.D." has lined up an outstanding cast of guest stars when season two continues. The show will welcome Edward James Olmos, Blair Underwood and Luke Mitchell. "Thor" star Jamie Alexander will also return for a second time as the Asgardian warrior, Lady Sif.
"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns on Tuesday, March 3 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
