Hartford Riverfest 2013 Postponed: Where in Connecticut You Can See 4th of July Fireworks

Everyone in the Hartford Area looks forward to the annual 4th of July celebration along the Connecticut River, but this year it looks like people will have to take their love for the United States elsewhere.

Due to high water levels from the numerous thunderstorms last month, officials had to cancel Hartford Riverfest scheduled on July 6.

"The recent heavy rains up and down the Connecticut River Valley have caused the river to rise, creating unsafe conditions," Joe Marfuggi, Riverfront Recapture's president and CEO, said in a statement. "It was a tough decision to make because Riverfest is such a popular event for the community - and so many people look forward to it each year."

So there will be no cotton candy, no fried dough, no kabobs, no overpriced glow sticks or balloons, and most important of all, no pina colada in a blue, Magic Mike-shaped cup?

Before you start to panic, the festivities are postponed and according to Myers there will be a Riverfest this year.

"We'll still have the spectacular fireworks show that Riverfest fans come to see," Myers added.
