The first trailer for Guillermo del Toro's highly anticipated "Crimson Peak" has just hit the interwebs and we have it for you.
The gothic horror tale stars Mia Wasikowska, Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam and Jessica Chastain. The film is produced by Guillermo del Toro, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Callum Greene with Jillian Share serving as executive producer.
The synopsis released with the trailer states:
"Set in Cumbria, in a crumbling mansion in a largely rural and mountainous region of northern England in the 19th century, young author Edith Cushing (Wasikowska) discovers that her charming new husband Sir Thomas Sharpe (Hiddleston) is not who he appears to be."
You can't help but feel as if the premise feels slightly familiar while watching the trailer. As a big fan of both Poe and Stephen King, it brings both "The Fall of the House of Usher" and "Rose Red" to mind...but everything else that is depicted here looks like classic del Toro fare. And that is in no way a bad thing.
The movie arrives in 2D and IMAX on October 16. Thanks to Coming Soon.net for the tip.
