A smart-mouthed, sassy 80-year-old woman had a Florida courtroom rolling with laughter during her Thursday bond hearing for allegedly violating a protection order by contacting her ex-husband, ABC News reported.
Even the judge couldn't resist laughing as Dolores Sheinis asked him to take her out to breakfast and called him a "sweetheart" after he released her on her own recognizance with the condition she wear an ankle monitor.
Broward County judge John Hurley said he hasn't been called "sweetheart" in a while.
"Does that mean you're taking me for breakfast?" Sheinis asked.
The saucy 80-year-old is accused of resisting arrest without violence and "violation of an injunction protection order for domestic violence against her ex-husband," according to court records obtained by ABC News.
The records did not indicate why the protection order was issued or what plea Sheinis entered.
But the Broward County comedian insisted she never went anywhere near her ex and vowed never to do so.
"I swear to God and all that's holy on a stack of bibles: I will never go near him, talk to him, call him or even look at him," Sheinis proclaimed.
The quick-witted defendant didn't stop there, with other inmates in the courtroom cracking up as she and the judge went back and forth.
Hurley asked Sheinis if she ever considered dong stand-up comedy.
"If you pay me good money, sweetheart, I'll be there. I'm really short of funds," she said.
He also asked if she thought he was doing a good job as a judge.
"Not bad, but you could do better," Sheinis said.
The only one who didn't seem phased by the comedian was her lawyer, who told her not to be disrespectful. But Sheinis also wasn't phased.
"I got you for Pro Bono," she told her lawyer. "I'll give you a buck when we leave."
