Skye's transformation into an Inhuman may be the most evident change when "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns, but Coulson and his team still face an ongoing battle against Hydra among other foes seeking vengeance.
ABC released the synopsis for the Marvel series midseason premiere, which reveals that the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents will have no time to rest after defeating Whitehall in Puerto Rico. Executive producers Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon penned the episode, titled "Aftershocks," that jumps right back into the action.
Bringing the Obelisk into the depths of the ancient city exposed Skye and Raina to the Terrigen mist that completed their Inhuman transformation, but each will come to terms with their newfound powers differently. Raina struggles with her transformation and seeks vengeance while Skye's inexperience with her new abilities will put those she cares about in jeopardy.
Skye's father will not give up his fight for his daughter. He also wants retribution against Coulson, who killed Whitehall before he could extract his revenge against the man who butchered his wife.
Audiences will learn more about the hidden agenda Mack and Bobbi briefly discussed in "Ye Who Enter Here," but it may have "grave repercussions" for Coulson and his team. Bobbi's ex-husband and once-again lover Hunter will also find himself making one of the biggest choices of his life.
On top of everything, S.H.I.E.L.D. still has to face the fallout from their recent battle against Hydra and perhaps dealing with another traitor in their midst.
"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns on Tuesday, March 3 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
