The 64th All-Star game tips off Sunday, and for many of the players participating in it, the venue makes the night even more special.
"It's going to be the best All-Star Game for me, to be able to be in the Garden," Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James told the Associated Press. "I love my fans back in Cleveland. I loved my fans when I was in Miami. But if I could have 82 regular-season games in the Garden, you know I would, because it's the mecca of basketball. You get a great feeling when you walk in there because there is so much history. It's going to be fun."
Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge feels the same way about playing the game in the Big Apple.
"This is one of the cities that I think most guys look forward to coming to," he said. "It's a fun city. There's always a lot going on. It's the fashion capital. I think guys love coming here."
James led the East with 1.47 million votes, and Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry led the West - and the league - with 1.51 million votes. One storyline to watch is the Gasol Brothers, Pau with the Chicago Bulls and Marc with the Memphis Grizzlies, making history Sunday night by becoming the first pair of siblings to start an All-Star game against each other.
"It's hard to put in words, honestly," said Marc, via NBA.com. "It's a pretty indescribable feeling. It means so much. Pau's career has gone one way and my career has gone a completely different way. But we'll both meet at the jump ball. I don't think it matters who wins (the tip). But I think we're both going to go for it no matter what we say now."
